Pre-Health Professions Entrepreneurship Summit

Theme: Mind your Business – How to open, manage and maintain your practice as a healthcare provider.
The three-day undergraduate health Professions summit this year will focus on practitioners running their own practice, in charge of a major facility or hospital. Students will have a unique opportunity to explore careers and network in multiple specialties throughout the field of medicine within the 3 days. This will be a platform where innovation meets inspiration and these future physicians and healthcare providers as they look into the lens of the future that will shape their medical pathway as the leaders of tomorrow.

First guest speaker Dr. David Kaufman, Chair of Surgery, St. Joseph Hospital, New York, Chief of Breast Surgery & Director of the Breast Cancer Program, St. Joseph’s Hospital, New York, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine. Dr. Joseph L. Herman who is a general dentist who is limited to pediatric dentistry; he is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry. He has many hours of continuing education and has been treating patients of all ages since 1990. Dr. Joseph L. Herman comes from a family of dentists. His two brothers practice in south Florida as well. Many years ago, he joined the practice with his wife and has been treating children as well. "I love practicing dentistry with children. It is a very enjoyable rewarding experience." |

6:45 - 7:45 | Second guest Speaker Dr. Jose Garcia, Board-certified in internal medicine. He earned his medical degree from University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1987. Dr. Garcia completed his internship at University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center in 1988 and University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center in 1991. |
Friday, October 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

5:30 to 7:30 | Introduction of panelist – “Minding your business” Health Care Entrepreneurship Summit led by student Organizations. Panelists Specialties: Family medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology and Dentistry. |
Saturday, October 19 – from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Location: Sanson Life Sciences Patio and the Rope Course Field
