The FAU Department of Music offers four undergraduate degrees across ten concentrations, a Master of Music degree with five concentrations, and a Commercial Music Business Minor.
Bachelor of Music: Commercial Music
Commercial Music Business
Florida Atlantic University’s Commercial Music program offers a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum to help students develop skills for a professional career in the music industry. The CM program offers three concentrations: Music Business, Composition, and Music Technology. All three concentrations are immersed in Hoot/Wisdom Records L.L.C., Florida Atlantic University’s official record label. Administered by the Commercial Music program, the label provides students with practical experience in the production, marketing, and distribution of sound recordings.
The Music Business concentration focuses on the business aspects of the music industry, including artist management, marketing, publishing, public relations, and other needed skills.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music Business concentration are also eligible to apply for a combined degree program, earning their B.M. in Commercial Music as well as a Masters of Nonprofit Management in only five years. This is a particularly valuable opportunity for students wishing to work with non-profit music organizations, such as symphony orchestras, opera companies, museums, and music festivals.
Commercial Music Composition

Bachelor of Music Education
Choral Music Education
The purpose of the Music Education program at Florida Atlantic University is to provide every student learner within the degree program the best possible instruction. Students follow a plan of instruction based on current music research, societal trends, and the modern American educational landscape, with the goal to prepare music teachers to engage with learners of different cultures, ages and ability levels. FAU Music Education majors will be able to structure and manage a positive musical environment that encourages these varied populations to experience, achieve, and thus, come to value music-making as a life-time endeavor.
FAU offers concentrations in Choral or Instrumental concentrations. Degree completers earn professional certification K-12, which is required for teaching in Florida's public schools. Please watch FAU's future music teachers in action as they engage in real-world instructional environments.

Wind Performance
The Bachelor of Music: Wind Performance concentration is designed to prepare music majors for professional performance careers, private studio teaching, and/or the pursuit of further academic study. This degree program requires 120 credits.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in Wind Performance program are also eligible to apply for a combined degree program, earning their B.M. in Performance as well as a Masters of Nonprofit Management in only five years. This is a particularly valuable opportunity for students wishing to work with non-profit music organizations, such as symphony orchestras, opera companies, museums, and music festivals.
Vocal Performance
The Bachelor of Music: Vocal Performance concentration is designed to prepare music majors for professional performance careers, private studio teaching, and/or the pursuit of further academic study. This degree program requires 120 credits.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance program are also eligible to apply for a combined degree program, earning their B.M. in Performance as well as a Masters of Nonprofit Management in only five years. Piano Performance (Pedagogy)
The Bachelor of Music: Piano Performance (Pedagogy) concentration is designed to prepare music majors for professional performance careers, private studio teaching, and/or the pursuit of further academic study. This degree program also includes an emphasis in pedagogy, consisting of more than 12 credits in pedagogy and literature. This degree program requires 120 credits.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (Pedagogy) program are also eligible to apply for a combined degree program, earning their B.M. in Performance as well as a Masters of Nonprofit Management in only five years. This is a particularly valuable opportunity for students wishing to work with non-profit music organizations, such as symphony orchestras, opera companies, museums, and music festivals.
Piano Performance (Pedagogy)
The Bachelor of Music: String Performance concentration is designed to prepare music majors for professional performance careers, private studio teaching, and/or the pursuit of further academic study. This degree program requires 120 credits.

Bachelor of Arts in Music
B.A. in Music
The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a degree that balances a general study of music with elective coursework in the liberal arts and humanities, providing a well-rounded liberal-arts-based educational experience for students wishing to pursue a variety of academic interests. This makes the B.A. in Music an excellent program for students wishing to double major. However, students in the B.A. in Music are not eligible to enroll in the Commercial Music minor or to double major in degree programs from the College of Education. This degree program requires 120 credits. Students must complete the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters B.A. foreign language requirement.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Music program are also eligible to apply for a combined degree program, earning their B.A. in Music as well as a Masters of Nonprofit Management in only five years. This is a particularly valuable opportunity for students wishing to work with non-profit music organizations, such as symphony orchestras, opera companies, museums, and music festivals.
4+1: Bachelors + Master of Nonprofit Management
Several FAU Music Degrees (BA, BM in Performance, BM in Commercial Music Business) may be combined with a Masters of Nonprofit Management. Students enrolled in this Combined Degree Program graduate with both their undergraduate music degree and Master of Nonprofit Management in just five years.
Students interested in this program apply during their Junior Year of their undergraduate program.

Commercial Music Minor
Commercial Music Minor
Students outside of FAU Music may complete a 15-credit Commercial Music Minor, with no audition. The CM Minor includes an array of music business courses for students interested in the music industry.
